Maju Studio specializes in handmade silver jewelry art. Each piece is made by me, Maju, in my studio located in Emeryville, California.
My creative roots come from ceramics and paper mache, which I learned growing up in Paraty, Brazil. Paraty is a very small resort town on the Atlantic coast in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Surrounded by natural environments of rain forest and the ocean I learned simple natural forms and materials to create art. Later I was invited to Europe and the USA to teach ceramics, paper mache, and mask making.
All of the silver jewelry here on Maju Studio is made from reclaimed silver. I use a natural process made from metal clay, also known as, PMC, or precious metal clay. This way I work with clay to make forms, shapes, and textures and then fire the clay which results in 99% pure silver jewelry.
You can contact me to schedule a special viewing of my work, browse the galleries here on my website or come a meet me at my upcoming shows, which you can read more about in my blog.
